‘You are god’s gift. It’s not you actually singing…’ commented a judge to a teeny weeny six year old girl singing in a song competition that was being aired on TV.
I don’t usually watch television but it has been three Sundays in a row that a musical contest caught my fancy. Amidst the jazzy lighting effects, jazzier color combo stage and singer celebrities hosting the show, there are child singers anywhere within the range of six to twelve singing to compete. They sing songs from movies ranging from way back to the sixties up to modern pop songs.
Some have had some form of training in music while others just sang as a hobby. A child of ten didn’t seem to understand the language she was singing in as she came from a different state.
It was as if the souls of singers had found themselves space to showcase their talent.
